KANAMARI POND

in-progress, April 2025

This work is towards my year-long undergraduate thesis exhibition, to be installed in April 2025 in the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery at Wesleyan University.

Series of sculptural pieces, including a pneumatically actuated system and sensor switch circuit, custom machining metal supporting pieces, and thermoforming acrylic plexi sheets.

PROCESS

sculpture in-motion: pneumatically actuated silicone & e-textile circuiting

I'm fabricating soft electronic materials by hand for circuiting, designing the mold for the silicone actuators and machining the metal parts to encase and support the system.

This piece was inspired by the knitted sensor and textiles research work led by Professor Roberts at Wesleyan University’s Soft Robotics Lab.
